We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst to join our Product Research & Innovation team who will help us to understand and validate the robustness and reliability of the sustainability insights that we show in our product.

LOCATION: Madrid, London, New York, Remote


Position Overview

We are looking for an individual to be responsible for monitoring the quality and robustness of the data used in the different modules of our digital product. In particular, the focus of this position will be the following,

  • ESG Risk module to help our clients measure and manage the financial risk related to sustainability factors of their investment portfolios
  • Exposures module to help our clients screen out companies with economic activities that do not align with their mandates
  • Regulatory module to help our clients comply with sustainability related regulation,

The Data Analyst should possess exceptional quantitative skills and thrive in an entrepreneurial setting. You will be required to analyze data and to be able to answer questions as diverse as ‘can a company produce this little waste or is this a wrongly reported datapoint?’ or ‘can the direct carbon emissions of an electric utility company be five times those of an oil & gas company?’

The ideal candidate should love looking at data and making sense of them to be able to provide actionable advice and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

The junior data analyst will be responsible for analyzing datasets with two different goals in mind: 1) Validate robustness and quality of datasets; 2) Help answer data related questions received both from our internal stakeholders and external clients in the financial industry. The role will include, but not be limited to, the following activities:

  • Define relevant tests to identify potential issues with the data, with a goal of working the the technology team to automate checks
  • Analyze different datasets, detect data issues, and identify the root cause of the issue (e.g., the raw data used as input, the data pipelines).
  • Conduct desk research to help you substantiate your assessment of the problem through publicly available information or stylized facts.
  • Design and build visualizations and/or dashboards to answer data questions
  • Follow up on detected issues to understand required corrective action, and coordinate closely with other teams to implement the proposed action.
  • Identify and propose continuous improvements and refinements to data validation processes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to document insights and findings.


Qualifications

  • Deeply passionate about sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, math, or other applied quantitative field. Option to work part-time while finishing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree for very strong candidates.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and quantitative skills.
  • Experience with Python or R. Experience with additional programming language, SQL and Gitlab is a plus.
  • Experience with an interactive dashboarding tool like Quicksight, Tableau, etc. is desirable.
  • Self-starter who will thrive in a start-up setting by taking ownership and initiative.
  • Decisive and action oriented who can get things done, make rapid decisions even when short of information, and has a high level of energy and stamina.
  • Complete fluency in English (minimum C1)
  • Intellectual curiosity and sense of humor.
