Job Title:            Senior Analyst, Data Governance

Job Location:     Hershey, PA

This position is open for 100% remote.

Summary: 

The Enterprise Data organization drives value for Hershey by providing high-quality, well governed data to the Enterprise for analytics and decision-making.

The Data Governance Sr. Analyst will work cross-functionally with business, operations, finance, commercial and technical teams to create data governance standards and controls, build data governance policies and procedures and assist in identifying and resolving gaps in data quality.  You will govern an emphasis on root-cause analysis across people, process, and systems.

The Sr. Analyst will also be responsible for working with the master data stewards to continuously improve master data processes, establish master data quality metrices and dashboard, ensure master data quality and resolution Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are at or above targets.  In addition, you will lead the functional maintenance of the Data catalogs to ensure that the data catalogs are update date, drive business adoption of data catalog etc.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

Data Governance Solution Delivery: 

  • Develop and deliver data governance solutions to ensure trusted data is available to the users at right time and right place.

Data Catalog Functional Maintenance:

  • Collaborate with IS and business partners to ensure that the data catalog content is up to date and curated as per stakeholder expectation.
  • Own development and management of platform / process business glossaries and data owner matrices to establish enterprise data standards for content, distribution, and use of critical data.

Master Data Management Delivery:

Collaborate with master data stewards on master data process improvements, master data quality and SLA adherence.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Champion data literacy, providing education programs coupled with a comprehensive view of where data is stored and how it is used
  • Build & manage data lineage models for business processes and platform architecture to ensure correct sourcing, use, and access to critical data
  • Oversee the development and management of platform / process business glossaries and data owner matrices to establish enterprise data standards for content, distribution, and use of critical data
  • Work closely with the solution owners and data architects for metadata curation as part of the Data catalog tool implementation
  • Work closely with master data stewards to improve master data processes including reducing manual touch points, improving system integration and data sync between systems
  • Work closely with master data business team to build requirements for implementing the MDM tool
  • Partner with technical teams and Business stewards in leading the data issue resolutions at source such as S4/ECC, etc.
  • Educate & drive adoption of data governance practices by showing its impact on business decision-making
  • Partner with Data Quality & business owners to drive business process improvement through governance practices and impact analytics
  • Partner with IS Architects to identify efficiencies and redundancies in the data creation and distribution model based on metadata and lineage governance.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: 

  • Strong Data Analysis Skills with focus on Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Metadata Management
  • Ability to deliver change management services to enable adoption of business & platform data processes.
  • Experience with Data Catalog tools (Informatica/Collibra/Alation etc.) – Experience with Informatica data catalog platform (Axon and EDC) would be preferred.
  • Experience with Data quality tools such as SAP Information Steward or Informatica Data Quality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce quality results under pressure
  • Ability to build relationships with variety of stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in MDM tools such as TIBCO, STIBO, etc. would be a plus

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

Education:        

  • Bachelor’s in a STEM degree
  • Master’s degree and/or related equivalent experience preferred

Experience:       

  • 3+ years of progressive experience leading with data focused initiatives, working with cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data management programs. 
  • 1+ years of experience designing data governance within an enterprise environment using industry standard guiding principles and practices   
  • Experience working cross-functionally at varying degrees of leadership in the business to build adoption and influence stakeholders for driving data governance in the organization
  • Experience with Informatica data catalog platform (Axon and EDC)
  • Experience with Data quality tools such as SAP Information Steward or Informatica Data Quality
  • Experience with MDM/PIM and data catalogs is a plus
  • Experience in the implementation of either an MDM/PIM or data catalog solution is a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience in managing PII data in accordance with applicable laws
