Our team is growing, this time Thrive Market is seeking to add a Senior Data Scientist to our Platform Engineering team. This is a business-critical role where you will have the opportunity to build data science the way you think it's intended for our subscribers needs. 

At Thrive Market, we've created a transparent, data-centric environment from the beginning and we'll need your help applying algorithms, machine learning, and other tools across our business departments. Such as engineering, marketing, merchandising, and operations to unlock our full potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Utilize advanced statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling to analyze large datasets and uncover patterns, trends, and insights related to customer behavior, purchase patterns, user experience, and product performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and opportunities, and develop data-driven solutions to optimize key metrics such as conversion rates, customer lifetime value, retention, and revenue generation.
    • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other teams to translate business problems into analytical projects, provide guidance on data collection and infrastructure, and ensure effective implementation of data-driven solutions.
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and ecommerce trends, and identify opportunities for innovation and application within the organization.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to build and productionalize predictive ML models to drive revenue through improved personalization and discovery e.g. recommenders, search, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Advanced Degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
    • 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, and machine learning, preferably in the ecommerce domain
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R, and proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization using relevant libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, seaborn)
    • Strong understanding of online advertising, A/B testing, cohort analysis, conversion optimization, customer segmentation, etc.
    • Experience with supervised and unsupervised data mining algorithms like deep learning, support vector machines, boosting, LDA, and logistic regression, etc.
    • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, decision trees, random forests, neural networks)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex and unstructured datasets, and derive actionable insights
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and translate business requirements into analytical projects
    • Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions and driving business impact through data analysis in an e-commerce or similar industry
    • Experience in a startup environment is a plus!
    • Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills - we work cohesively and want to bring in folks who seek to drive unity
    • Ability to independently lead and execute projects
    • Curious, hungry, proactive, results-oriented, data-driven, and thrives in fast-paced, team-oriented environments

JOB INFORMATION:

    • Compensation Description - The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000/Per Year.
    • Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and geographic location.
    • Total Compensation includes Base Salary, Stock Options, Health & Wellness Benefits, Flexible PTO, and more!
