Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Working closely with a small team of experts, we have a unique opportunity for you to play a leading role in migrating machine learning based solutions from R&D to product-level operational delivery. The automated scoring team at Pearson is comprised of a small group of enthusiastic, inspired thinkers who thrive on developing cutting edge applications, with a passion for innovation, and pride in using technology to enhance students’ educational experiences. Our group is collaborative, agile, and supportive.

Required Skills

  • MS or PhD in a quantitative field (CS, EE statistics, math, data science)

  • At least 5 years professional experience as a software engineer or data scientist

  • Experience in natural language processing (NLP)

  • Strong coding & analytics skills including proficiency in python and Linux

  • Track record of producing machine learning models and production infrastructure at scale

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with colleagues of varying technical and non-technical abilities

  • Passionate about agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and systematic experimentation

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

Minimum full-time salary range is between $135k - $155k
