We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to collaborate with our product teams in developing and deploying advanced AI capabilities. Reporting to the Director of AI and ML, you will have a hands-on role in building and optimizing solutions with Generative AI in production environments. This role requires strong technical expertise, a passion for innovation, and the ability to drive impactful AI-driven product enhancements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions, with a focus on large language models (LLMs).
  • Develop and fine-tune LLM-based systems for production, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
  • Keep the organization at the forefront of AI innovation by adopting and implementing best practices, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies.
  • Conduct rigorous model evaluation, including performance testing and bias assessment, to ensure the ethical and reliable deployment of AI systems.
  • Mentor and guide developers across functions, sharing expertise in AI/ML techniques, model development, and deployment best practices, while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

What success looks like in this role:

  • Build models driving critical business capabilities and deploy them in production 
  • Provide thought leadership on AI/ML best practices and innovation
  • Partner with feature teams to implement AI capabilities to meet our joint business goals

What we expect from you:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience applying ML techniques to solve business problems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with the full model development lifecycle, including using ML frameworks such as sklearn and PyTorch and Generative AI capabilities such as GPT-4.
  • Proficiency with Python and proven ability to deploy AI/ML solutions in production environments.
  • Expertise in model evaluation and optimization: experience in evaluating the performance, scalability, and reliability of AI models.
  • Ability to lead and drive complex AI projects, from ideation through to deployment, while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

The target base salary range for this position is $179,100 - $218,550, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Databaseat minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
