As a data-driven company, we're looking for an experienced Staff Data Scientist, reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), to lead our efforts to explore and evaluate new cutting edge models that have the power to transform our business by leveraging our data in new ways. The Data Scientist will be primarily responsible for developing and evaluating early stage, innovative data science models. This is an individual contributor role.  

The Staff Data Scientist will be responsible for translating our business ambitions into exploratory data science projects including selecting the appropriate approach, assessing new technologies, designing and evaluating data science models and reporting progress to business leaders. We expect the role to interact with key leaders and executives across the company in piloting new initiatives, gathering feedback and informing our company-wide Machine Learning roadmap.  Our ideal candidate will have proven, hands-on experience implementing both classical and modern modeling and analysis methods in a business setting.

What You'll Do: 

• Be the thought leader for elucidating and demonstrating the business opportunities that can be solved with applying advanced Data Science models to ezCater’s business.  
• Develop “proof-of-concept” plans to achieve business outcomes using ezCater data and data science models. Assess new technologies, identify data required and select the optimal approach, design models and evaluate effectiveness. 
• Report interim results to senior business leaders and executives, ideating on alternative approaches and methods to evaluate effectiveness. Work directly with business and engineering to understand challenges, guide approaches and explain results.
• Collaborate with ML engineering, Chief Data Officer, Data Science Architect and other executives on ezCater’s ML roadmap, identifying opportunities to prioritize and integrate the models and learnings from your work.

What You Have:

• A track record of leveraging data science models, data and new technologies to take ideas from business concepts to proven data science models that have demonstrable value. 
• 6-8+ years of experience in a quantitative or technical work environment
• Experience designing and applying machine learning models and statistical analyses in a business setting  
• High comfort level with Python 
• Proven track record of collaborating with engineers, data scientists and business leaders in explaining methodologies and vetting applications for performance, accuracy and quality. 
• A disposition that is friendly, flexible and pragmatic, and the desire to learn something new every day and continue to grow.

The national cash compensation range for this role is $185,000 - $227,000*.
