The Opportunity:
The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is seeking an States Analytics Lead to support our ongoing mission of empowering Democrats up and down the ballot to win more elections by running effective, data-driven campaigns.

Who We Are:
We are a fully remote, distributed team living in 19 states and from a variety of backgrounds. Some of us have worked in political campaigns, others in public sector tech, and others in industry. We value diversity in perspective, lived experience, and the many paths one may take into working in political technology. We believe deeply in the promise of breaking the boom-bust cycle of political tech work and building technology infrastructure that will support campaigns from cycle to cycle and will improve with every iteration.

Who You Are:
We’re looking for a strategic, analytics-minded leader who will shape the way the DNC Data Team provides support to campaigns up and down the ballot. You will lead a team that turns data into insights that inform decision-making, and builds systems to help Democrats leverage data at scale to win in 2022.

In this position you will…

    • Lead a team of Regional Data & Analytics Managers working to support coordinated campaigns across the country, as well as the DNC’s national organizing program. You’ll be a strategic leader, manager, and coach as we build out this team and shape how we support campaign programs throughout 2022.

    • Work with national committee partners to understand their program priorities, and collaborate with Tech Team stakeholders to identify ways that DNC data and analytics infrastructure can support sister committees’ work. Drive execution of those projects, which may include developing shared data standards, building reporting infrastructure, and administering a national coordinated VAN committee.

    • Work closely with the DNC’s Organizing team to develop a reporting roadmap for the DNC’s national distributed and digital organizing programs; work with new hires to develop and maintain these reports over the course of the cycle.

    • Lead communications; provide regular updates from the states analytics team during cross-departmental DNC meetings, as well as externally with sister committees, coordinated campaigns, and other stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with other leaders across the DNC Data & Tech Teams; identify opportunities to build sustainable infrastructure and efficiently address shared challenges.

Some things that might make you right for this role:

    • Good candidates might check many of these boxes, but don’t let this list stop you from applying:

    • At least two cycles of experience working on a large scale statewide coordinated campaign or similar.

    • Demonstrated experience managing a successful data/technical team; bonus points if you’ve managed a distributed team and are comfortable collaborating and coordinating work happening around the country.

    • Experience working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders; you should be comfortable working across teams with a variety of experiences – balancing input from multiple stakeholders, prioritizing among competing priorities, and building consensus around the outputs of your work.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences; demonstrated experience presenting work & building buy-in from senior organizational leadership is key.

    • Deep familiarity with political data like state voter files, election results, or voter contact data, and fluency in helping campaign leadership understand how to leverage this data to run effective programs; experience working with DNC tools such as Votebuilder, Phoenix, Mobilize, and Scale to Win is a bonus.

    • Strong technical skills in data analysis and visualization; you’re fluent in SQL and comfortable reasoning about very large datasets (experience with Google’s BigQuery is a plus!). You’re experienced telling stories with data using tools like Google Data Studio, Tableau, Periscope, or Looker. This role won’t involve significant hands on analysis work, but you’ll need to be in a position to coach and support analysts on your team using these tools – and will need to communicate the results of analysis to a wide range of stakeholders.

    • Experience doing voter outreach or community organizing, either professionally or as a volunteer – bonus points if you’ve knocked doors, made phone calls, sent text messages, or organized your own friends and family to vote.
This is a cycle based position with an end date of November 15, 2022.
