About the Role

We are looking for a product analyst to help the audience team make critical decisions to drive revenue, retain subscribers, and grow the reach of our content.  In this role, you will work with the retention and strategic finance teams by developing insights through experimentation, analysis of large quantities of data, and other insights as appropriate. You’ll tackle mission-critical strategic retention user flow and initiatives that will help The Athletic retain subscribers and optimize revenue.

Responsibilities

    • Be a key partner to the audience and search team, proactively providing deep insights into search content performance as part of broader ecosystem. 
    • Work with content creation team and product team to define success metrics. 
    • Partner with the product manager to define hypotheses, experiment setup, and success metrics for various project/feature launches.
    • Collaborate with data science and engineering to bring to life new targeting and insight tools.
    • Democratize data and insights through skillful data structuring and use of visualization tools.
    • Formulate insights, championing them and driving them into action.
    • Be a strong advocate on data quality.

Requirements

    • Ability to capture and synthesize large amounts of data into actionable recommendations and build comprehensive financial models using advanced analytic techniques.
    • Strategic & analytical mindset.
    • Understanding of statistical analysis and experiment design.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels and roles in the organization. 
    • 2+ years of experience in data analytic centric roles. 
    • Proficient in SQL.

Nice to Have

    • Familiar with at least 1 scripting language (Python or R). 
    • Familiarity with technical SEO effort.
