About the Role

We are looking for a senior product analyst to help leadership make critical decisions to drive revenue and retain subscribers.  In this role, you will work with the retention and strategic finance teams by developing insights through experimentation, analysis of large quantities of data, and other insights as appropriate. In this role, you’ll work with the retention team and strategic finance team to tackle mission-critical strategic retention user flow and initiatives that will help The Athletic retain subscribers and optimize revenue.

Responsibilities

    • Be a key partner to the retention and transition to full price team, proactively providing deep insights into user behaviors, segmentation to guide the product roadmap.
    • Partner with the product manager to define hypotheses, experiment setup, and success metrics for various project/feature launches.
    • Proactively identify the highest-impact growth opportunities and develop strong relationships with peers and cross-functional teams to influence the product roadmap.
    • Synthesize financial goals and guide trade-off decisions between subscriber growth and revenue.
    • Partner with the data operations  and engineering team to continually iterate on the technical requirements, frameworks, tools, and processes supporting analytics in a way that benefits the company, the team, and the product.
    • Be a strong advocate on data quality.

Requirements

    • Ability to capture and synthesize large amounts of data into actionable recommendations and build comprehensive financial models using advanced analytic techniques.
    • Strategic & analytical mindset.
    • Understanding of statistical analysis and experiment design.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels and roles in the organization. 
    • 2+ years of experience in data analytic centric roles. 
    • Proficient in SQL. 

Nice to Have

    • Familiar with at least 1 scripting language (Python or R). 
    • Familiarity with the financial modeling process.
    • Familiarity with a subscription business model and subscription KPIs such as LTV, CAC, MRR, ARR, etc.
