About the Role

We are looking for a senior business operations & strategy data analyst who will leverage data to analyze large amounts of information quickly and effectively to reduce complexity and make actionable recommendations to leadership. In this role you’ll work with the strategic finance team to tackle mission critical strategic problems and initiatives that will help The Athletic grow faster and scale more efficiently. 

Responsibilities

    • Apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making related to new initiatives, products, and business opportunities.
    • Synthesize financial goals with cross-functional teams efforts to set goals and OKRs with cross-functional team leads.
    • Provide analytical support in the financial modeling and forecasting process.
    • Deep dive into customer, financial, and market data to provide guidance on pricing optimization.
    • Be a vocal advocate of data quality and analytical rigor across the organization.
    • Foster a data-driven, test-and-learn culture with your passion for telling stories with data.

Requirements

    • Ability to capture and synthesize large amounts of data into actionable recommendations and build comprehensive financial models using advanced analytic techniques.
    • Strategic & analytical mindset - top-notch strategic thinking and problem-solving ability, excellent business intuition.
    • Understanding of statistical analysis and experiment design.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels and roles in the organization.
    • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking.
    • 2+ years of experience in data analytic centric roles.
    • Proficient in SQL.

Preferred Skils

    • Familiarity with the financial modeling process.
    • Familiarity with a subscription business model and subscription KPIs such as LTV, CAC, MRR, ARR, etc.
