About the Role

Our subscription business has grown rapidly over the past few years, driven by our investment in high quality content and an enthusiastic user base. We are looking for a seasoned product analyst to leverage our data and take the business to the next level by bringing renewed focus to Lifecycle: engagement and retention of our free users and subscribers. We are forming a new cross-functional Lifecycle team that will bring together stakeholders across the company to work on initiatives that we believe will have a profound impact on the long-term health of our subscription business. In this role you will work closely with our Product, Marketing, Engineering, Data Science, and Design teams to develop hypotheses and analyze A/B experiments for new features and define key performance metrics to guide the Lifecycle team’s efforts. You will deep dive into user and subscriber behavior within our product ecosystem, including engagement with our core product and emails, and assess the effectiveness of subscription flows such as cancellation and winbacks. You will have the opportunity to improve our data culture and shape the cross functional Lifecycle team strategy with your insights.  

Responsibilities

    • Be a key partner to the Lifecycle product and marketing leads, proactively providing deep insights into user behaviors, segmentation and habits to guide long-term product and marketing strategy.
    • Define and maintain models for assessing user engagement with the product as a leading indicator for churn and active intervention.
    • Partner with the Lifecycle Product Manager to define hypotheses and success metrics for various project/feature launches.
    • Lead experimentation by providing guidance on hypothesis generation, opportunity sizing, and implementation, and evaluating the impact of experiments on our key metrics.
    • Present insights and recommendations to cross-functional leads and executives.
    • Proactively monitor the health of the business, including engagement and retention metrics, and regularly communicate updates to the cross-functional team.
    • Contribute to data quality efforts by designing analytics instrumentation for new features, conducting user acceptance testing for feature usage tracking, and maintaining schema documentation.
    • Foster a data-driven, test-and-learn culture with your passion for telling stories with data

Requirements

    • 4-7+ years of experience in data analytics for a subscription based or highly operational business.
    • Highly analytical mindsetHigh proficiency in SQL and comfortable navigating data to perform a wide range of analyses.
    • Familiarity with Python, R, or another scripting language.
    • Experience with advanced analytic techniques like segmentation, clustering, and regression modelsUnderstand statistical testing: power analysis, sequential testing, continuous testing.
    • Can clearly articulate ideas, frame problems, and offer solutions.
    • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, both at the executive level and with peers and cross-functional teams.
    • Understanding of the subscription revenue model in the digital media space
