As part of the Data Engineering team, you will be working on a performant and scalable cloud-based analytics platform to enable Rhythm in providing affordable green energy to their customers.  Whether you're a pure Data Engineer, or a Data Engineer with an interest in moving into machine learning or predictive model building, we have a variety of interesting problems for you to work on.

To join the team in our new Serbia office, we are looking for a Data Engineer with experience developing and optimizing complex analytics data products leveraging big data frameworks. The candidate will be part of our diverse international Data Engineering team and will be building scalable production data applications and working with large data sets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact with other teams in Rhythm to understand their data and analytics needs and build software solutions and data products that meet those needs
  • Write high quality, testable, maintainable, and secure production code in the Cloud
  • Perform performance tuning and optimization of complex, distributed big data pipelines
  • Develop internal testing, automation, and deployment tools to improve data product reliability and team productivity

Required skills:

  • Preferred BS or MS in relevant fields such as Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience operating in a production environment, including using code repositories, formal deployment pipelines, performing code reviews, writing automated tests, etc.

Optional, but highly desirable skills:

  • Hands on experience with Big Data Frameworks and/or Distributed computing tools, such as any of the following: Spark, PySpark, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Hadoop, Databricks, etc.
  • Exposure to Data Science, either working in blended teams with Data Scientists or hands on experience with training, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models
