THE TEAM

The Marketing Insights and Data Analytics Services team within the Marketing & Data Strategy organization works on projects across all divisions, to develop insights around Fans and Marketing programs. These insights are used to inspire new marketing programs and improve existing marketing efforts across Concerts, Ticketmaster, and Sponsorship business units. We are also responsible for quantifying the value of our marketing efforts through our test and learn program, incrementality testing and attribution thought leadership.
THE ROLE
The Data QA (short for Quality Assurance) Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of our organization’s marketing data assets. They will be responsible for identifying the potential gaps from data ingestion/collection to business reporting, creating validation reports/dashboards in DOMO/Tableau, and setting up monitoring processes to proactively flag any data anomalies. They will investigate data issues/questions raised by various stakeholders utilizing multiple tools and follow up with root cause and actionable solutions.
This position will conduct validation via SQL/Python query against the best source of truth available. They are responsible for setting up automated checks for data gaps, outliers, inconsistency, etc. in both user-facing environment and platforms such as Databricks. Should any issues been found, they will follow up with the relevant teams upstream and translate the business details into technical requirements. They will respond to inaccurate data, data feed breakage, communication breakdown, tool setup issue and other causes that impact downstream users and business reporting.
This position will have a thorough understanding of the business rules, and naming conventions implemented by the Media Buying Teams by reviewing the existing documentation and connecting with different functional teams. They will create reports and automated alerts and flag any non-standard nomenclature in Databricks and DOMO. They will work with the business stakeholders to ensure the issue has been resolved and followed by a further plan for any recurring issues.
This position is responsible for logging and categorizing data issues and incidents. They will closely partner with the Measurement and Business Intelligence teams to design, create and maintain a functional, efficient, and automated validation program to ensure the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of data input. They will have a deep understanding of the expectations and business needs of the stakeholders and interpret them into technical requirements. This position will work with marketing business leaders across the organization and their work on the data quality program will be both impactful to the business and highly visible.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in data quality assurance, solution-oriented, curious, and always be on the lookout for any area of improvement in our existing process. There will be significant amount of ownership and opportunity to support the data quality program along with shaping the data monitoring methods and data validation approaches.
This person will report to the Marketing Data Analytics Manager.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
Be the quality assurance (QA) lead and thought partner to our digital media and CRM team by providing proactive and strategic validation process to ensure data integrity for business reporting.
Perform advanced, exploratory, and ad hoc analysis on diverse data sets, requiring writing and running complex SQL queries to access, profile and validate data across multiple tables within Databricks and other platforms.
Create user-facing cards/dashboards with alerts to flag data anomalies in DOMO/Tableau.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, pain points, and gather their requirements and expectations.
Interpret QA related business needs to technical requirements and collaborate with data engineers and other analysts to implement the solution and validate the needs have been fulfilled.
Investigate the data issues and anomalies raised by various stakeholders and follow up with clarification, root cause and actionable solutions.
Assist with the maintenance of marketing data sources through escalation of discrepancies to with engineering and technical teams.
Lead and support data quality program, drive automation and scale of QA utilizing different tools.
Log, quantify and categorize data issues and incident on Confluence or other shareable platforms.
Be a subject matter expert on data quality standards and validation best practices.
Systematically identify data issue and follow through on the resolutions to ensure that a plan is updated with improved business processes.
Support ad-hoc analysis to improve the quality and consistency of our data asset.
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING:
TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Expert in with creating data QA related dashboards and alerts/notifications in BI tools such as DOMO, Tableau, or similar tool.
Experience with troubleshooting BI reporting and dashboards.
Proficiency in writing and running complex SQL queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
Experience with synthesizing and summarizing large data sets into trends with SQL/Python for checking anomalies.
Knowledge of good quality data and best practices in data validation.
Experience with digital media platforms such as SA360, DV360, Google Ads, The Trade Desk, Campaign Manager, Facebook Ad Manager, YouTube Analytics, etc.
MS Excel expertise – lookups, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
Experience with presentation tools such as PowerPoint or Google Slides.
Required:
2+ years of work experience in the data integration, profiling, monitoring, and validation.
1+ year of experience in designing and managing QA related projects.
Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively convey concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to identify the gaps in current process, craft QA plan with business use cases and presentations of related material built.
Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages such as SQL, Python, preferred.
Expert experience with data visualization tools like DOMO, Tableau, preferred.
Understanding of data anomalies and common methods of identifying them through automated process.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on quality and attention to detail; able to develop and use structured approaches to identify root causes and recommend resolutions.
Knowledge of marketing concepts and digital marketing channels.
High level of autonomy in a global, fast-paced environment, with excellent time management skills to resolve multiple interrupt-driven priorities concurrently.
Committed and able to adapt quickly; ability to work autonomously while ensuring that new knowledge is shared with other teams.
Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity; “no job too big or too small” mentality.
Though this role is remote and open to applicants across the US, the ideal candidate must be willing to accommodate (PST) hours for meetings and collaborative sessions.
Desired:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college ideally in business or quantitative subject (e.g., Computer Science, Marketing Science, Marketing Analytics, Business Analytics, etc.).
A good understanding of statistical modelling knowledge or any machine learning technique knowledge (regression, logistic regression, random forest, etc.).
Experience with designing a comprehensive and automated data validation tool that is proven to be value-added.
Knowledge of clickstream and conversion data (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, AppsFlyer).
ETL and streaming data orchestration experience (e.g., PySpark).

The expected compensation for this position in California is:
