The Customer Integrated Analytics (CIA) team sits at the intersection of Customer analytics, Marketing analytics, Economics and Corporate Strategy to support strategic decision making at Zillow Group. The team gathers, and disseminates critical strategic business data and analysis through regularly scheduled executive presentations and reporting. The CIA team is also leveraged by Corporate Development & Strategy teams and the Senior Leadership Team to help with ad hoc investigations and analysis that either span vertical business lines or involve competitive analysis. This team is designed to have a broad view of the data assets at Zillow Group to deliver insights that span individual teams and lines of businesses.
About the role
This is a unique data science position that has a direct communication line to senior and executive leadership at Zillow Group. In this role, you might support analysis for multiple $10M ideas per year or write highly reliable code to automate a new data pipeline from an external API. This role also provides opportunities to present recommendations and insights from statistical models that you manage. These insights might be referred to in board presentations or investor calls. Here are the key functions of this role:
Descriptive Modeling: We are always working on statistical models to help us figure out the factors that drive our business. These models inform marketing investment and help business leaders plan for exogenous economic factors. Experience interpreting regression and other analytical models will be required.
Data Engineering: Zillow has world class real estate and customer data. In the cases where the data is not cleanly available you need to have the skills to wrangle it. This could mean creating automated last mile ETLs on data that exists in our data lake or querying a third party API.
Business Acuity: You will be working with business strategy leaders to advise “big swing” investments. If you find something valuable or exciting, be ready to present your findings and recommendations to business leaders!
Executive Presentation Abilities: You’ve uncovered Zillow’s next $100M idea. Now you must effectively communicate your insight to the leaders who can act on it. This might be via email, business brief, or presentation.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
Who you are
The CIA team is seeking a candidate that likes to tackle complex and ambiguous problems. You will develop a deep understanding of our mission, business models, and customers. We want you to use your intuition to find opportunities for growth and to cultivate insights from our extensive data sets. The ideal candidate will have the following:
An undergraduate or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics, engineering, statistics, finance, or similar)
3+ years in a highly analytical role with a demonstrated track record of quantitative data analysis and problem solving
Complete command of SQL, and either Python or R
Experience with ETL pipelines, scheduling and productionalizing (Airflow, Spark, or similar experience is helpful)
Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills to concisely communicate insights
In additional to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.
