About the team
The Data Science & Analytics team supports Zillow Group Mortgages, a dynamic, collaborative, driven, and high-growth team that is passionate about changing the way people buy and sell homes. We are very data driven and make most business decisions using data. The Mortgage Analytics team provides a 360-degree view of our business while acting as a trusted partner to deliver strategic insight and critical support for partners through research, analysis, reporting and cross-functional knowledge.
About the role
Our team is seeking a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to join us. You will work closely with data science, operations, fulfillment, and finance to build and maintain reporting and quality business domain data. You will wear several hats as a data engineer, a data analyst and a visualization designer. Building and maintaining data visualizations and the data that powers them will be a key focus of this role, creating informative and engaging reports that surface previously hidden insights and opportunities to help improve our mortgage products. More specifically you will:
Build compelling, clear, and powerful visualizations that are useful and appealing to users.
Understand the business goals (what are we trying to accomplish) and be able to select and define metrics accordingly as well as evolve/improve the metrics over time.
Transform, mine, clean and combine large and/or complex data to build simplified datasets that are accessible, understandable and usable. These data sets power critical metrics in your own visualizations as well as empower self service from a client base as broad as read only users to deep diving data scientists.
Dive into Zillow's internal and third party data (think Hive, Presto, SQL Server, Tableau) to develop solutions that will help move the business forward and enable better decisions to be made in less time.
Tell a clear story, highlight insights we hadn't previously seen, and do it all faster than we've been able to previously.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
