The Data Science & Analytics team supports Zillow Group Mortgages, a dynamic, collaborative, and high-growth team that is focused on transforming the way people buy and sell homes. The Mortgage Analytics team provides a 360-degree view of our business while acting as a trusted partner to deliver strategic insight and critical support for partners through research, analysis, reporting and cross-functional knowledge.

About the role

The Mortgage Data Science team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join us. You will collaborate with data science, product, operations and business partners with a specific focus on marketing analytics. You will be a key contributor to developing and analyzing marketing initiatives supporting the entire mortgages business including SEM, Social, Outbound and Product Marketing. More specifically, you will:

  • Dive into Zillow's internal and third party data (think Hive, Presto, SQL Server, Tableau) to develop solutions that will help move the business forward and enable better decisions to be made in less time.

  • Provide analytics support to lead and optimize search engine and social media marketing campaigns.

  • Employ internal and external data sets to develop audiences for outbound marketing campaigns to drive traffic and connect consumers Zillow Home Loans and partner lenders.

  • Work closely with product marketing to measure and refine the consumer experience in our loan origination business.

  • Collaborate with the mortgages analytics team as well as the broader Zillow Group analytics teams to share new analytics tools and techniques.

  • Tell stories that describe analytical results and insights in meetings of all sizes with diverse audiences.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

Who you are

We are seeking an experienced candidate who is passionate about translating complicated data sets and business problems into easily consumable and meaningful insights. Stakeholder engagement is a key component of the role as you will work directly with our marketing and sales operations teams to make frequent business critical decisions. You will ideally have:

  • 6+ years in a highly analytical role (or 4+ years with an advanced degree), with strong preference for marketing analytics experience.

  • An undergraduate or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. science, engineering, economics, finance, statistics, or similar) or proven experience within business analytics.

  • Experience with attribution modelling and media mix modelling preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL, and either Python or R, along with experience with visualization software like Tableau or libraries in Python/R.

  • Experience analyzing clickstream data.

  • Experience with Bayesian methods is a big plus.

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
