About the role
Zillow Design Operations team is looking for an Principal Business Intelligence Analyst to lead a variety of strategic and tactical functions that supports running the business of Zillow Experience Design (ZxD). As a strategist, consultant and implementer, this individual will round out the Design Operations group, helping to scale and deliver information to leadership on the value of Zillows investments in Design. The work will focus on developing measurement frameworks to establish performance and impact data, influence process work to establish necessary measurements and deliver reporting through analysis and self service capabilities.. This work will inform Design and Research leaders day to day operations and Zillows long term investment in this Discipline.
This job gives you the chance to:
Analyze sophisticated business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences
Inform and implement a roadmap to scale performance measurement of Design & Research; lead high-impact initiatives and cross-team projects
Build process and data requirements
Facilitate the development of tooling to measure performance and make operational decisions quickly & efficiently, advise on budget and tooling strategy
Define the key input and output metrics as well as leading and lagging indicators to accurately measure the performance of Design and how its operating multi-functionally
Monitor, analyze and report on business performance, opportunities and risk, and communicate those to business leadership
Implement self service and automated ways for distributing information and insights from data analysis
Develop and scale frameworks to help design teams use data driven approaches to framing problems
Partner across various teams including data, analytics, data science teams to understand and establish standard methodologies for data and analytics multi-functionally
Construct forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data specifications for reporting and analysis
May provide consultation to users and lead multi-functional teams to address business issues
May directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $135,500.00 - $216,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
8+ years in a business analyst or data visualization role
5+ years of Business analytics experience within a Design organization
Experience with SQL and data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
A highly analytical approach, with experience enabling rapid and high-quality decision making in a fast-paced environment
Experience developing measurement models supporting operational excellence
Experience collaborating with data scientists and data engineers, as well as with product managers and operations teams, to translate raw data into business impact
Ability to identify and develop solutions to sophisticated problems from a strategic, operational, and customer perspective
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; able to pose complex strategic decisions for business leaders with clarity and precision
Build scale-able self-service analytics models to be used by partners in analyzing both the current state of the business and a suite of forward-looking options

It’s a plus if you have
Expert in Data Visualization and coaching to improve this practice
Understanding of Agile or Lean methodologies, familiarity with JIRA and experience with JIRA Align are pluses
Have worked with UX Design or Research
Experience building user centered dashboards and/or information hubs
