The Single View of the Customer (SVOC) Team is seeking a talented and innovative Principal Engineer to join our team. You will team up with business analysts, product owners, ADLs, managers, and director to work in an agile environment and design, develop, deploy, and maintain our codebase. An ideal candidate is intellectually curious, has a solution-oriented attitude, and enjoys learning new tools and techniques. You will have the opportunity to design and execute vital projects such as re-platforming our data services on Microsoft Azure Cloud, delivering real-time streaming capabilities to our business applications, and enhancing GEICO ID - the source of record for customer data across the GEICO journey.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years enterprise IT experience across data engineering, software engineering, DevOps or architecture roles

• 5+ years experience with enterprise applications (architecture, development, support, and troubleshooting).

• Ability to work independently as well as function as an integral part of a team, take initiative and contribute in a fast-paced environment

• Able to balance multiple projects concurrently and manage changes in scope along the way

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors, business users, and executives, and the ability to communicate technical solutions in business terms

Preferred Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in data software development, using data technologies such as Relational & NoSQL databases, open data formats, and programming languages such as Python, Scala, and/or other frameworks, building data pipelines (ETL and ELT) with batch or streaming ingestion, loading and transforming data, and developing with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, and MapReduce

• 3+ years of experience designing and building for quality assurance, reliability, availability, and scalability, on existing and new applications

• 5+ years' experience in Cloud Computing or Architecture (Azure strongly preferred)

• 3+ year's experience with Microsoft Azure with Azure native tools ADF, Eventhub, Databricks in an Azure Kubernetes environment (AKS)

• 3+ years of experience with Cloud DevOps Concepts, Cloud Services and Architecture, and Azure native stack like ADF, Eventhub, Databricks, and AKS.

• 2+ years of experience building data software in microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs

• 2+ years of experience in utilizing open source frameworks

• Experience implementing Customer 360 or MDM initiatives

• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot framework

• Demonstrated history of defining standards and best practices as well as mentoring developers

• Experience working with data warehousing stacks including Snowflake, Delta Lake, and ADLS

• Azure certification, at the associate level (Solutions Architect or Developer), or specialty (Big Data) is a strong advantage.

Annual Salary

$58,000.00 - $204,500.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
