The Data Analytics & Business Intelligence (DABI) team is the center of excellence for data work across the company and is responsible for cultivating a data-driven culture by supporting internal teams and customers with high-quality data and insights. How You’ll Contribute:

  • Build strong relationships both within and outside the data teams to deeply understand stakeholder needs.
  • Find the best approaches to leverage the capabilities of the tools in our data stack (Looker, BigQuery, and Metabase), and train team members to use them.
  • Establish and document best practices for each tool in order to enhance maintainability, performance, security, and the deployment process.
  • Identify corners of our data ecosystem that are unused or stale, and make recommendations for how to retire them.
  • Build monitors and alerts to inform the team of degraded performance and use of design patterns we want to avoid.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 5+ years of industry experience using data to drive product growth and operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex results to technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Experience designing the underlying architecture of a reporting system (such as Looker, Microstrategy, Tableau, etc) in order to optimize maintainability, security, and performance
  • Curiosity that inspires questions leading to an understanding of the true needs behind a colleague’s request
  • Passion for leveraging your strengths to enhance not just your own effectiveness but an entire team’s
  • Expert-level knowledge of Looker (or similar presentation layer), and BigQuery (or similar cloud DB), and intense interest in expanding that knowledge
  • Strong desire to work at the intersection of healthcare and technology
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with large amounts of data
  • System administration of BI tools
  • Experience with protecting access to PII and PHI
  • Familiarity with dbt, Python and Git.

Possible Projects To Contribute To:

  • Restructure Looker projects and objects to maximize code re-use and maintainability
  • Run a monthly brown-bag education session to educate the data teams and superusers about best practices.

  • Develop automated tests to ensure we maintain dashboard quality standards while rapidly growing our offerings.
