As a Senior Software Engineer on the Agent AI team, you’ll be partnering with a highly skilled group of applied scientists, software developers, and machine learning engineers working together toward a bold and audacious goal.

About the role

The Agent AI team iterates quickly and solves problems at the forefront of AI product development. This role requires an entrepreneurial approach and a driven curiosity about the constantly evolving field of LLMs and AI-powered assistants and co-pilots.

We are seeking a collaborative, customer-focused, and product-minded engineer with deep experience with data powering machine learning. The ideal candidate must be passionate about building tools to support the entire life-cycle of the science effort, including governance and warehousing, data validation and alerting, rapid prototyping and productionalization of new tools and products for new use-cases and with new methods, and helping the team integrate with and enhance available platform and open source tools

You will get to:

• Apply a growth-mindset and first principles to ambiguous customer problems to rapidly iterate on novel solutions and ways of working.
• Collaborate closely with applied scientists, engineering, design and research to understand, scope, design, prototype, implement and iterate on internal and external facing systems supporting and implementing next generation AI applications.

• Champion operational excellence through setting the standard in software design, automated testing, and detailed monitoring.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $159,400.00 - $254,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• You have 6+ years software development experience implementing scientific and/or production machine learning methods and scalable service infrastructure.
• You are comfortable contributing across the stack, including ETL, backend services, and product front-end.
• You are fluent in languages such as Python, Java, and Javascript.
• You're comfortable establishing, adopting, and communicating high standards in the usage of source control tools, CI/CD, monitoring, data validation, testing, dashboarding, etc.
• You are interested in one or more of: generative AI and machine learning, product innovation
• You have excellent communication skills, and are passionate about working across organizational boundaries with people of diverse skills.
• You have independently designed and built scalable and reliable ETL, services and workflows/pipelines, perhaps using Python/Aiohttp/Flask/FastAPI/etc, Next.js, Kafka, Airflow, Flink, Kubeflow, Metaflow, Spark, etc.
• You can distill informal requirements into problem definitions, independently ambiguity, blockers, and competing objectives. You ask for support when you need it.
• Practiced technical ability and passion for both owning implementation and contributing technical/thought leadership for a team of world-class engineers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, or a related field.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with generative AI or large language models and related technologies (knowledge retrieval solutions, for example).
• Experience collaborating with science, engineering, design, research and product partners in a team with a startup culture.
• M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent experience in computer science, or related field.
