Cloud Data Engineer

Key Role:

Support efforts to design a cloud-based data solution to support the client’s scientific mission data repository. Recommend standards, tools, and capabilities based on your research of the environment and knowledge of various on premise, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. Explore how to help customers overcome their most difficult challenges in cloud data storage. Work with the client’s technical leads to implement strategy and architecture design. Lead the planning, designing, and deployment of hybrid on-premises and cloud architecture solutions for use in a next-gen platform enabling data science and advanced analytics applications leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning, automation, cloud-based security, and big data. Focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers, so you’ll have resources for mentoring and learning new skills and tools. Basic Qualifications:   

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, or consulting with technical architectures and applications deployed in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments using cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
  • 5+ years of experience with system or architecture administration and configuring network, containerization, VM, system, and software installations
  • 5+ years of experience in user management, system configuration, Python scripting, and system sizing
  • 5+ years of experience in a software development, infrastructure, or cloud operations role
  • 3+ years of experience with database architecture and design
  • Experience with multiple operating systems and languages and planning and implementing large-sized databases
  • Experience with development and maintenance of complex data query procedures and scripts spanning multiple databases
  • Knowledge of Cloud database technology
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance  
  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:   

  • Experience working in scientific research Cloud environments
  • Experience with database migrations with multiple data sources and types, including Microsoft SQL server or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with JupyterHub
  • Experience developing and managing machine images or templates to automate Cloud deployments, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC)
  • Experience optimizing Cloud environments, including leveraging native Cloud capabilities, right-sizing servers, expanding storage, and tracking cost efficiencies at the application level
  • Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,400.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
