Data Architect, Lead

The Challenge

You are an innovative technologist, who will be tasked with solving complex data problems with real-world impacts by applying industry-leading solutions and approaches. Lead the way in defining the capabilities, technical stack and cloud architecture to deliver next-level data insight and analytics solutions.  You will consult and partner with our clients define and implement data solutions across a variety of problem sets.  As an industry expert, you will be empowered to design solutions that will deliver material benefits to our business, while ensuring the underlying infrastructure is compliant with enterprise requirements for security, scalability, and performance. You will also have opportunities to build, mature, and pass along your skills across Data, Cloud and DevSecOps.

By collaborating with other technologists across Booz Allen and our clients, you will help define a target state vision for data and how modern cloud technologies can support this vision, while connecting the dots across existing enterprise systems to maintain data integrity and business continuity. Since elements of this architecture will be new, you will play a pivotal role in driving adoption and learning/applying new technologies. Your technical expertise will be vital as you work with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure standards are met throughout the build and migration process. We are driving transformational change in how Booz Allen and its clients harness their vast troves of data, and we need you to drive the vital changes that will make that possible! Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

You Have

  • 10+ years of experience with leading and developing data architecture for operational systems
  • 5+ years of experience with defining strategy and roadmap for large data ecosystems, including distributed storage technologies and data pipeline/ETL technologies including Informatica, Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, StreamSets, or AWS Glue
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and implementing cloud-based data solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • 5+ years of experience building or maintaining software systems, including software engineering, API development, data pipeline development, or data infrastructure management
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience establishing and implementing data management solutions that address all aspects of data usage, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Experience with creating verbal and written communication products for clients, including presentations and whitepapers
  • Knowledge of data warehousing querying solutions, including Apache Hive, Amazon Athena, and Cloud Data Warehouse Services, including AWS Redshift, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Snowflake
  • Knowledge of distributed data processing technologies including Apache Kafka, Spark, or Databricks
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science,

Nice If You Have

  • Experience with leading architecture or engineering teams in Agile production environments which require defining, building, and executing
  • Experience planning and facilitating data migrations for production data systems
  • Experience with EA modeling and visualization tools, including System Architect, Troux, Metis, Mega, Tableau, Enterprise Elements, iGrafx, or Visio
  • Experience with the development of large, mission-critical workflow and document management systems
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools including Kubernetes, Docker, Git, Jenkins, Atlassian, SonarQube, Gradle, Ansible, or Nagios
  • Experience with implementing protocols, including REST, SOAP, MQ, TCP/IP, and JSON
  • Knowledge of data service and deployment frameworks including Spring, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of security and access control methods for data protection in structured and unstructured data
  • Ability to organize and lead large technical teams in Kanban, Agile, or DevSecOps processes
  • Master’s degree

The proposed salary range for this position in Colorado is $150,000 to $170,000. Final salary will be determined based on various factors.
