GIS Data Analyst

As a client-facing GIS data analyst on our Health team, you’ll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to help find the pieces of their information puzzle. Not only will you extract and evaluate their data, you’ll also help your client interpret the information and recommend how it can be used to make an impact on the importance of geography and place in shaping health outcomes.
How You’ll Contribute:
As a GIS data analyst on our team, you’ll:
· Use your technical knowledge to support client and stakeholder relationships supporting public health missions.
· Research, develop, and test data methodologies, and generate cross-functional solutions through extraction, analysis, and visualization of large data sets.
· Contribute to impactful work and guide decision-making across multiple organizations.
· Apply your communication skills and analytical mindset by simplifying technical requirements and trends, based on audience.
· Present data findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders using your knowledge of databases, scripting languages such as SQL, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics and key performance indicators to drive technical outcomes.
· Apply data visualization through different formats such as Maps, Graphics, Tables, and other visualizations.
· Grow your communication and technical skills by merging consulting and big data to create data-centric solutions in Public Health.

You Have:
· 5+ years of experience in working with GIS, cartography, geography, computer science, public health, or data analytics
· Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and software, including ArcGIS, ArcGIS online, or QGIS
· Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) for data management and analysis
· Experience with data visualizations for broad audiences
· Experience in a built environment or environmental health
· Experience in working with large environmental datasets
· Ability to troubleshoot desktop, web, database, and server problems
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
· Bachelor's degree
Nice If You Have:
· Experience with software products, including SaTScan, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign, Google Maps or Google Earth, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Outlook
· Experience with programming and scripting, including R, Python, or SAS
· Knowledge of relational database concepts
· Knowledge of public health, cartography, and environmental health
· Knowledge of health equity or social vulnerability

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $45,300.00 to $93,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
