Machine Learning Engineer
The Opportunity:
As an experienced engineer, you know that machine learning (ML) is critical to understanding and processing massive datasets. Your ability to conduct statistical analyses on business processes using ML techniques makes you an integral part of delivering a customer-focused solution. We need your technical knowledge and desire to problem-solve to support DoD program offices. As an ML engineer on our AI-enabled team, you’ll train, test, deploy, and maintain models that learn from data.
In this role, you’ll own and define the direction of mission-critical solutions by applying best-fit ML algorithms and technologies. You’ll be part of a large community of ML engineers across the firm and collaborate with data engineers, data scientist, solutions architects, and product owners to deliver world class solutions to DoD and Federal clients. Your advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise will guide clients as they navigate the landscape of ML algorithms, tools, and frameworks.
On our team, you’ll use your leadership skills and data science expertise to create real-world impact. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll guide teammates and lead the development of algorithms and systems. You’ll use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise your clients as they make informed decisions. Ultimately, you’ll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

You Have:
4+ years of experience with data science, ML engineering, software development, mathematics, or analytics, including in a professional or academic environment
Experience with Python, R, Octane, or MATLAB
Knowledge of ML concepts or graphics processing unit capabilities
Knowledge of statistical measures, including confidence intervals and significance of error measurements, and developing and evaluating data sets
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Master's degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience with designing and developing software applications
Experience with developing statistical and simulation models
Experience in natural language processing topics, including tagging, syntactic parsing, word sense disambiguation, topic modeling, contextual text mining, or application of deep learning to NLP
Experience with advanced modeling techniques, including XGBoost or transformer architectures
Experience with developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling
Experience with the C3.ai platform

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00 to $212,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
