Job Summary:

The Manager of Advanced Supply Chain Analytics will work under and at times alongside the VPs, Directors and overall Senior Leadership on Vroom’s transformational strategies. They will do this by receiving assignments/objectives and determining how best to lead and utilize their team and resources in reaching goals. At times, you will also be expected to challenge and recommend changes to policies and procedures that affect your coverage areas and/or that of the immediate organization. 

You and your team will synthesize complex problems through data-driven solutions that will impact the goals of Vroom. This individual will frequently interact with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Communication and leadership will be key as this person will lead a cooperative effort among members of project teams. You will have responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing of your team, functional areas and/or projects. This will be attained by instilling continued learning to hone in and expand your team’s technical skills by leveraging other experienced managers and data analytic professionals' mentorship and direction. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will lead a team and projects under senior leadership’s direction, utilizing resources to meet schedule and goals by providing guidance to subordinates - at times challenging the status quo
  • The Advanced Supply Chain Analytics function as a whole will be establishing strategic plans and objectives in uncovering Vroom’s largest challenges, creating scalable solutions against those challenges - including how Vroom buys cars, manages its inventory, markets its inventory, and completes the sale and delivery of cars to customers
  • Responsible for results, including costs, methods, budgeting and mentorship/staffing of your team
  • Will instill data-driven thinking for your team as well as work collaboratively in improving initiatives across such areas as:
    • Recon cost reduction through buying patterns or redesign of repair standards  
    • Last mile and line-haul logistics network to improve delivery metrics and NPS
    • Vroom pricing engine to improve sales margin 
    • Vroom’s marketing strategy to improve sales velocity 
    • Vrooms sales process to improve conversion 
  • Ensures that all reporting and analytical responsibilities on their team are completed competently in a timely manner, continually seeking out opportunities to learn new and hone existing technical skills (e.g. writing SQL/code, statistics, machine learning, etc.) and operate in collaboration with and/or mentorship of more experienced senior leadership and data analysts

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to manage, mentor and control the activities of a data driven analytical team in the Advanced Supply Chain Analytics umbrella
  • Can receive assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to utilize resources to meet budgets, schedules and goals
  • Experience providing guidance to subordinates toward goals within the latitude of established policies & procedures 
  • Unquenchable intellectual curiosity for getting to the underlying story being told within the data
  • A combination of EQ and IQ – striving to balance creativity, situational awareness and objective information 
  • Will work on issues of a diverse scope utilizes data driven thinking and cross functional partnering to support the initiatives of Vroom

Technical Skills

  • Python
  • SQL
  • Dashboard and Reporting Tools (ex: Jupyter Notebooks, RShiny, Tableau, Excel)

Soft Skills

  • Ability to tell a story with data
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
