Job Summary:

Vroom is looking for a Senior Director of Data Infrastructure to lead strategy and execution as we generate data across the entire organization to combine the data sources for consumption by the operations, product, and technology teams. This will encompass organizing and reporting on the data generated by UACC, CarStory and Vroom. This position will interact with stakeholders where data is generated as well as those needing to report on the data. This role is an opportunity to provide leadership oversight for our Analytics Engineering and BI Engineering teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategy to design, develop, and deploy reliable data solutions from data ingestion to ready-for-analysis datasets

  • Maintain and optimize data pipelines, data models and data warehouse for performance and scalability

  • Identify gaps in technology to allow for Vroom’s business segments to be a data driven organizations

  • Hold the team accountable for best practices and standards for code maintainability and performance including automated monitoring of data integrity across data systems

  • Attract, retain, manage and mentor a team with expertise across all relevant areas of data engineering, reporting, and analysis

  • Strategic leadership: Ability to develop, drive and document recommended technology strategy to meet the unique needs of the business and customers

  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex requirements through creation and refinement of processes that drive enterprise data development practices

 

Competencies:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Leadership & Executive Presence: Comfortable leading initiatives and reviews with executive stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain top technical talent

  • Demonstrated capacity to break down complex systems into strategic themes and set the team's direction to navigate them

  • Manage multiple teams working on distinct initiatives simultaneously

  • Professional experience analyzing data warehouse architectures for consistency, errors, and overseeing plans to improve them

  • Experience in one or more cloud computing environments

  • AWS, Redshift, dbt

  • BI and Data Visualization (Looker or similar)

  • Google Analytics

  • SQL & NoSQL Databases

  • Python or R

  • Airflow

  • Excel
