We are growing our team seeking a Sr. Data Scientist who will focus on improving customer conversion specifically related to the financing cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of data science products for various business units.

  • Lead the selection and implementation of new technologies and facilitate their rollout, working closely with product, devops and engineering leads.

  • Lead the establishment of modeling best practices and coding standards to be used across the data science organization.

  • Stay current with rapidly developing data modeling technologies and share knowledge with the greater team.

  • Ensure proper use of Vroom data assets by working closely with our data governance and cybersecurity teams.

  • Proactively apply business judgement to identify opportunities and develop data science strategies.

  • Advocate and advance modern, agile data science product development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.

  • Influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively with other business leaders.

  • Communicate scientific solutions and insights effectively to a non-technical audience.

  • Develop mechanisms to audit the product quality and develop best practices.

  • Mentor junior members of the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantitative Sciences (Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, Physics, among others) required. Masters Degree preferred.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role. 

  • Advanced proficiency with Python or R, and solid working knowledge of SQL.

  • Modeling experience related to car loans, ability to pay or credit level preferred, not required.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to own a project and bring it to fruition with minimal oversight

  • Conceptual knowledge and background in probability, statistics, and machine learning including their technical implementation. 

  • Experience designing, prototyping, and deploying production-ready machine learning solutions. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
