A Senior Software Engineer on our Enterprise Data Integrations team (jEDI) at Marlette owns our data pipelines from development to deployment, implementing new data infrastructure as we quickly scale as a fast growing fintech with multiple consumer finance products.
You will work on a collaborative team of skilled data engineers led by savvy leaders, some of which have seen the growth of of Best Egg from concept to nearly 17B in originations. You will continuously create new tools, work on optimizing our products, and join the technology organization in staying up to date in latest data and software engineering practices. You are a great fit for this role if you are experienced with Python, Docker, relational databases, automated testing, AWS resources (IAM, Lambda, S3, etc) and you truly enjoy a high energy culture where engineers are empowered to make decisions and share values in a collaborative team. As a full-time employee of Marlette, the Senior Data Engineer must be eligible to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop data pipelines using Python, Kafka, Snowflake and AWS technologies.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Be part of a team that owns all aspects of its development – from application code to deployment in the cloud, to continued observability.
- Develop automated unit and integration tests that codify software requirements.
- Create and maintain CICD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
Requirements
- You have strong programming fundamentals.
- You have experience developing and troubleshooting infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Serverless) with AWS resources.
- You are a proponent of DevOps and CICD.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Experience with Git
- Experience building unit tests
- Experience with Docker and Unix environments
- Experience owning responsibility for production processes
- Excellent documentation and general organization of ongoing tasks, including the ability to evaluate and question business rules.
- You practice empathy and kindness, and you look to help others.
Nice To Have
- Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse
- Familiarity with SOLID design principles
- Experience with GitHub
- Experience with queue and data streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, RabbitMQ)
