We are Loadsmart and we have recently created a new Staff Backend Engineer position to help us optimize top talent at our growing company (we grew from 150 to 450 in the last 18 months) with a recent Series C of $90M. We are seeking an innovative, agile, data-oriented Staff Backend Engineer who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced global company.

LOCATION: Remote from anywhere in Latin America

What you get to do:

    • Lead the definition and delivery of services and tools that help developers build data platform solutions.
    • Design, implement and maintain reliable and scalable data infrastructure, including design and development of scalable data pipelines to capture, store, process, and publish platform telemetry for performance and utilization analytics.
    • Support the development and build the automation of system performance and metrics.
    • Write clear solution specifications that provide enough detail for the data engineering team to fully understand the scope of functionality and business drivers so they can estimate and deliver in a timely manner with high quality.
    • Proactively recognize and assess the need for scalable data platform capabilities working with other engineering and product teams, product operations, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaboration with internal data platform teams to utilize existing data products, ingestion patterns, or automation to avoid manual/specific development while contributing to the enhancement and creation of these shared assets when gaps are identified on the end-to-end technical data lifecycle and corresponding data technology stack for their data domain and have a deep understanding of the company's technology stack.
    • Ensure data quality and deploy secure and well-tested software that meets privacy and compliance requirements; develop, maintain, and improve CI / CD pipeline.
    • Adhere to and advocate for data engineering best practices (e.g., technical design, technical design review, testing, monitoring & alerting, checking in code, code review, documentation). Develop Technical Documentation and materials.
    • Partner with functions and divisions to ensure data capabilities roadmap, operating model, and governance principles are best serving the organization's data strategy and are effectively activated across the company. 

You have experience:

    • 5+ years of experience leading/architecting complex data engineering solutions
    • Deep and hands-on experience designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting cost-effective, reliable, and scalable data infrastructure, data pipelines, and data products in complex environments.
    • Expert-level experience in working with Python and data related technologies
    • A demonstrable ability to solve complex data engineering problems.
    • Knowledge and skills in one or more technologies such as Airflow, Kinesis, EMR, Spark, (Iceberg, Hudi, Delta lake), redshift, glue, Athena, S3, DBT, PostgreSQL, SQL, NoSQL
    • Strong knowledge of Cloud Computing, Containerisation, CI/CD, and DevOps
    • Quality vs speed approach, preferable with testing experience of some of the most common tools in the market (PyTest, Nose, Behave, etc.)
    • Able to function as an expert advisor, inspiring leader who provides guidance to teams and individuals as well as facilitator and influence on engineering decisions within tactical and strategic instances
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate technical and functional vision and direction to multiple audiences
    • Platform Service Management, alerting and monitoring to ensure high reliability in compliance with Cyber Security Standards and Privacy Policies
    • Data Lifecycle Management through Global Metadata and Access Control Management.
