Statistician, Senior
Key Role:
Conduct and apply health science expertise to science and technology client challenges. Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions. Operate with substantial latitude for actions and decisions. Mentor or supervise employees in both firm and technical competencies. Provide consulting services focused on supporting the analytical planning and execution of health and healthcare data for government agencies. Maintain responsibility for analysis design and statistical programming in SAS, Python, or R, code optimization and efficiency, quality control via appropriate application of statistical theory, modeling, including parametric and non-parametric for interpretation of results, and objective development for descriptive statistics to refine hypothesis. Assist with monitoring and assessing data integrity and accuracy using commonly accepted reliability and validity assurance practices appropriate for quantitative and qualitative data.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience with advanced statistical analyses of Medicare claims data and Medicare Part D claims or prescription drug event data
10+ years of experience with payment error rate calculations, such as prescription drugs
10+ years of experience with SAS, R, or Python
5+ years of experience with developing sampling strategies to overcome challenges, including cost limitations, and unique populations with small sample sizes
Experience being responsible for developing a statistical methodology using federal healthcare data by employing advanced statistical methods
Experience with sample size or power analysis calculations in the context of surveys and large database studies
Experience with resampling methods, such as Permutation tests, Bootstrapping or Monte Carlo Estimation, Cross Validation, or Random Portfolios
Experience working with large datasets and increasing the efficiency of code or script
Experience mentoring team members and leading analytic teams
Master’s degree in Statistics or Mathematics
Additional Qualifications:
Experience working in team environments where not all members are professionally trained in statistical and quantitative method
Experience delivering written and verbal communications of technical information
Experience with program documentation and code commenting
Experience with employing advanced statistical methods as demonstrated by track record of peer-reviewed publications
Ability to work independently and as a member of a highly collaborative team
Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
