As a Data Scientist on the goPuff Forecasting team, you’ll build and deploy models for important use-cases within warehouse and operations - including supply chain planning, operations optimization, and driver resource management. You’ll have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the future success of Gopuff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate demand forecasting models for various business needs, including supply chain, operations, delivery planning, Ads planning, finance, etc.
  • Collaborate with our business and engineering partners across the organization to deliver data science solutions for practical business problems.
  • Work with the project leads and product managers to identify and scope new opportunities for data science projects and implement advanced analytics solutions that become essential to our daily business operations
  • Productionize and deploy models using cloud based tech stacks including Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Ecosystems and etc. 
  • Drive adoption of data products and data science solutions into the planning process for investment decisions with finance and the leadership teams
  • Identify gaps in existing data, create data product specs, and work with Engineering teams to implement enhanced data tracking
  • Partner with Analytics team members and other functions to share insights and best practices, ensuring consistency of data-driven decision-making throughout the org

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in data science
  • MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, analytics, computer science, engineering or another quantitative field
  • Hands-on experience applying descriptive statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to solve challenging business problems
  • Knowledge of business problems and technical solutions for demand forecasting
  • Expert programming skills in Python or a general programming language
  • Data querying skills in SQL
  • Experience deploying models in a production environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to business stakeholders
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PeriscopeData
  • Experience with operations research and working with OR specialists
  • Experience with data science applications in delivery and driver managementMove fast, be a team player, always be learning and give back
