Data Science at Gopuff is really fun, we are super collaborative, really focused on business impact, and driving a better customer experience via machine learning solutions, modeling, and causal inference. Our team is involved end-to-end on the delivery of those models: from deeply understanding our product and our users to identifying opportunities to enhance the product with data-driven solutions, to writing the model’s code and working with engineering on having that model used by different systems across our platform, to experimentally testing and evaluating the performance and impact of our models.
As a Data Scientist at GoPuff working on the Delivery Technology Team, you will help develop data-driven models to optimize the delivery experience for consumers and delivery partners in our platform across dispatch optimization, delivery routing/ETAs, delivery simulation, driver pricing/incentives, as well as the delivery partner experience (goDrive app). All of that, with a direct impact on the delivery experience that is so core to serving our customer's immediate needs. You’ll have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the future success of GoPuff.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our business and engineering partners across the organization to deliver data science solutions for practical business problems.
- Work with the project leads and product managers to identify and scope new opportunities for data science projects
- Deeply understand our users, our product, and our data to identify opportunities for machine learning, optimization, and causal inference methods to deliver a better customer experience and make our business more efficient
- Build data-driven, robust and replicable data science models
- Develop frameworks for evaluating and monitoring model performance
- Use experimentation and causal inference to measure the impact of our models on user engagement and business metricsProductionize and deploy models using cloud-based tech stacks including Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Drive adoption of data products and data science solutions into the product planning process with team leadership
- Identify gaps in existing data, create data product specs, and work with Engineering teams to implement enhanced data tracking
- Partner with Analytics team members and other functions to share insights and best practices, ensuring consistency of data-driven decision-making throughout the org
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in data science
- MS or PhD in operations research, economics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative field
- Hands-on experience applying descriptive statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to solve challenging business problems
- Expert programming skills in Python
- Data querying skills in SQL
- Experience deploying models in a production environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to business stakeholders
- Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PeriscopeData
