As a Senior Data Scientist on the Gopuff Experimentation & Pricing Data Science team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-impact projects related to how our customers use each of Gopuff’s business verticals. You'll play a crucial role in building customer segmentation, lifetime value, consumer pricing data products that directly influence key strategy and tradeoff decisions at Gopuff.
Being a cross-cutting platform team, we particularly value your code craftsmanship, systems thinking, and collaborative development process, since each work product is iterable with results that will be consumed by many other systems. Your cross-org work will have a significant impact on the future success of Gopuff.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners to build and optimize our pricing model and strategies.
- Build and enhance machine learning, statistical, and causal models to measure customer segmentation, customer lifetime value, and heterogeneous treatment effects.
- Leverage experimental variation for validation on non-experimental causal inference methods.
- Work closely with our Product, Engineering, and various Data Science teams to ideate, scope out, and prioritize custom causal inference data products that scale and empower multiple stakeholders across Gopuff.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in machine learning and causal inference techniques and identify opportunities for their application in various Gopuff settings.
- Deploy large-scale systems using cloud-based tech stacks including Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, Docker, and MLFlow. Practice test-driven development with proper CI/CD processes.
Qualifications
- MS or Ph.D. in statistics, operations research, mathematics, computer science, engineering, economics or another quantitative field.
- 3-5 years of experience in data science
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning, causal inference, statistics, and experimentation design & measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to balance execution and velocity with research, statistical depth, and scalable design.
- Experience applying causal inference techniques outside of controlled experiments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of CI/CD and MLOps
- Experience with Pricing Data Science
- Experience implementing contextual bandits
