Cigna’s Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) unit offers solutions that provide actionable insights to internal and external business partners and customers that help reduce health costs, improve outcomes, provide financial security and measure and forecast business performance. The Global Data & Analytics team has joint accountability with business operations to achieve Cigna’s customer-centric, business growth objectives and strives for high levels of alignment and day-to-day engagement with stakeholders. The team provides analytical discipline and rigor to enable fact-based decisions for the business.

Overview:

The successful Business Analytics Senior Analyst will be a key contributor in the development of comprehensive data resources and advanced analytics supporting next generation hospital / facility / professional services reimbursement rate contracting.  As a part of the Provider Contracting Analytics & Methodology team, this person will help build an analytics foundation that will empower market leadership to design, monitor and optimize provider and facility contracts.

This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate on agile project teams in a consultative capacity, delivering state of the art analytics and methodology for implementation in state of the art software, designed to enable business partners to deliver lower total cost of care to clients and customers via improved hospital / facility / professional services reimbursement rate negotiations and network configuration
  • Work with business subject matter experts to gain knowledge of facility / provider reimbursement contracting and networking, understand business objectives within the domain, and frame problems for analytics / data science solutions
  • Survey internal and external data sources and contribute to central analytics ETL modules in Python and HiveQL
  • Perform exploratory advanced analytic techniques to deploy robust valuations focused on cost
  • Working within various data domains including, but not limited to, claims experience, provider demographics, customer demographics, provider contract, and clinical.
  • Participate in migration to Cigna’s AWS cloud-based Analytics Platform.

Qualifications:

This position requires healthcare and insurance content knowledge, advanced analytics expertise and leadership skills.  This position will drive market value by participating in a highly matrixed structure with business stakeholders and Agile model that enables and evolves new concepts and ideas to supercharge Evernorth's Affordability strategy.

  • Degree preferred, ideally in Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or Data Science.
  • Work experience in a value-add subset of the following or similar subject areas: Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning
  • 3+ years’ of analytics experience solving business problems through the application of descriptive, diagnostic and prescriptive analytics approaches
  • Knowledge of one or more areas of healthcare data (e.g., claims, provider, membership, groupers, profiling, EMR) preferred
  • Intermediate experience coding in SAS or Python; and other Data Science related programming languages will be taken into consideration
  • Experience with large dataset ETL and analytics in a value-add subset of the following or similar technologies: Teradata/Hadoop, Impala/Hive SQL, Domino preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to allow for value-add working relationships with various matrix partners such as medical economics, contracting, engineering and agile leadership
  • Ability to adapt and overcome obstacles and challenges in a dynamic work environment

This role is Work at Home / Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
