Summary:
Focuses on the use of information and analytics to improve health and optimize consumer focused business processes. Provides leadership and is responsible for building the data infrastructure and tools to support business analytics and reporting. Combines IT capabilities with clinical knowledge to evaluate and write code in order to help maintain, clean, build, and enhance commonly used datasets. Also creates and maintains data dictionaries for such datasets. Acts as a liaison for data-related needs for healthcare economics teams, clinical leadership and broader Cigna. Makes recommendations based on findings to drive the decision-making process and support business operations for internal and external customers in an effort to control medical cost and improve the quality of services provided to members. Responsible for designing and implementing the systems and programming to analyze and report findings. Creates and delivers automated solutions leveraging strategic tools driving relevant insights in partnership with Business Analytics and IT.
This position will be required to have expertise in several different technologies used by the AZ Medicare Advantage Informatics team. This position is a heavy coding role and understanding of these technologies is critical. These include multiple database technologies such as MS SQL, SAS, IBM DB2, Teradata, and Access. An understanding of VBA coding is also preferred. There are also several other tools such as Excel and Tableau. These technologies will be used to develop complex data processes for operational reporting and in depth analysis for specific projects such as evaluating the success of clinical programs.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Support AZ Medicare Advantage plan analytics and reporting
Support senior members of informatics team
Design, build, and maintain datasets for analytic teams
Create stored processes in SQL and SAS
Create data dictionaries for commonly used datasets
Management and support of existing Tableau Dashboards
Maintaining data tables, validating data, and documenting monthly/weekly processes
Support strategic initiatives for AZ Medicare plan
Successfully complete project deliverables associated with all aspects of life cycle methodology including design, build, test, train and implementation
Interact closely with internal customers to understand their needs and expectations
Provide status reports, verbal and written
Take initiative to identify process improvements and implement them when needed
Support and assist in the successful completion of team goals
Perform other tasks as assigned
Ideal Candidates Will Offer:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
3+ years’ experience with SQL
2+ years’ experience with SAS
Experience with Teradata, TOAD, SAS, Unix command line, would be preferred
Experience with Power Query preferred
Experience with Tableau preferred
Experience in related health care analytics; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft software applications (Excel, Access, Powerpoint) and Windows operating system environment
Have the ability to work independently and in conjunction with coworkers of all levels
Experience interpreting and defining business requirements for complex business problems
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and take initiative with limited direction
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
