Summary

Provides expert content/professional leadership on complex Data Measurement & Reporting assignments/projects. Delivers analytical and operational reporting, healthcare market trend, risk analysis, business performance measurement and management dashboards through the use of portals and self-service tools across the organization. Creates and delivers automated solutions leveraging strategic tools driving relevant insights in partnership with Business Analytics and IT. Provides guidance on end-user needs, informs reporting solution design, and fulfills data and measurement requests in support of business priorities. Exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives quickly to market. Uses deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders. Focuses on providing thought leadership within Data Measurement & Reporting but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business needs and collaboration. Recognized internally as a subject matter expert and point of contact for business partners (contracting, clinical, analytics/data science) and IT matrix partners.

Healthcare Enterprise Reporting Team

This is a dedicated team that contributes to the support, development and delivery of enterprise reporting. Our motivated team uses their technical and analytical knowledge to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of quality data. The team collaborates with multiple matrix partners acting as a liaison between IT and reporting stakeholders both internal and external. Through our team’s subject matter expertise on healthcare data and the complex calculations and methodology that drives the reporting we support, we’re able to quickly streamline operations to ensure service level agreements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Business ownership of root cause analysis of application issues.  This includes identifying, validating, and documenting issues.  Effective communication and prioritization of issues with business team and includes assisting in testing out solutions and implementing into production.
  • Support the Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions Development team for application enhancements and new content.
  • Translates customer objectives into requirements understanding and proactively anticipating user needs.
  • Work closely with customers, IT, and other Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) partners to meet project objectives
  • Engage in operational readiness activities to ensure that project “go-live” is stable and successful
  • Work across teams including GD&A, Data Science, Clinical and Medical Economics to deliver new reporting capability and efficiencies to customers.
  • Identify and take ownership of issues with the ability to engage appropriate partners in order to drive to resolution.
  • Enforce SLA’s through effective partnering with upstream data sources to ensure timely and accurate reporting for internal users and customer delivery.
  • Subject matter expert on Optum Grouper Data outcomes - Evidence Based Medicine Quality Measures, Episode Treatment Groups, and Episode Risk Groups.
  • Able to read, write, and manipulate SQL code for sourcing data/calculations/methodology for data base jobs and/or report generation.
  • Proficient in supporting ‘big data’, able to analyze large data sets to identify root cause of reporting issues, rationalize report outcomes, and/or pinpoint opportunities for improved reporting outcomes.  
  • Knowledgeable of Healthcare Data - Member, Provider, Clinical, Claim, and Eligibility Data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or health management preferred with 5+ years’ work experience in health care/managed care field with direct responsibility for data analysis and management, relational databases, and reporting.
  • Masters in Computer Science and Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • Hands on experience with strong database querying skills utilizing SQL Server, TOAD, Hadoop, Python, SAS (EG) on Teradata, Hadoop, DB2, Amazon Web Services (AWS), cloud, and/or other relational database technologies is required
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Excel, LOOKER, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, COGNOS, ServiceNow or SCORE
  • Ability to work comfortably with all levels of management including senior level leaders
  • Proven ability to navigate in an ambiguous environment and effectively problem solve
  • Ability to understand complicated concepts and break them down into easy to understand and meaningful information.
  • Project management skills and demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Works with speed and purpose to efficiently and effectively complete assigned tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, process automation and business applications
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to compile and analyze information, and provide resolutions or recommendations for improving operational processes.
