The Enterprise Data Management Strategy & Governance organization creates and maintains data governance policies, standards, processes and roles for the enterprise and establishes the oversight and accountability to drive their adoption and compliance. It ensures that our company’s data has a high degree of reliability and integrity. The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) and Oversight team’s mission is to maximize data value for business stakeholders, reduce company risk, and to create consistent and trusted data throughout its lifecycle.  The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Policy & Standards Writer is responsible for creating and revising key data governance artifacts that provide overall direction for the Cigna/Evernorth organization.

The incumbent is responsible for partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) that span across multiple lines of business and functional capabilities to proactively develop new content and ensure existing content remains current, accurate and easily accessible.

This role is responsible for blending industry data governance practices with Cigna/Evernorth processes and governance tools to develop meaningful content that optimizes impact. Additionally it will support the training, change management and the process improvement initiatives that enable a full and effective roll out and monitoring of these data governance artifacts’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to employ a technical writing style that can clearly and concisely convey information.
  • Develop key data governance documents that apply to business and/or technical audiences, with different levels of understanding.
  • Own, moderate, and revise existing EDG library content in alignment with review cycles.
  • Obtain consensus and approval from key constituents regarding document content. Resolve and influencing the positive outcome of conflicting content recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage feedback to proposed content and respond appropriately in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Develop communications that effectively convey the status of all documents in their development and maintenance life cycle.
  • Keep current on data governance tools and initiatives to ensure timely and substantive artifact development that meets and supports both technology and business needs.  
  • Perform highly independent work in a very matrixed environment
  • Lead and/or proactively support projects initiated or supported by the Enterprise Data Governance team or others as defined by EDG&O.
  • Recommend and drive improvements and efficiencies where possible.
  • Support other team initiatives and processes as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or industry experience in policy writing, or technical writing, Knowledge Management or Communications (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Data Governance (preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail; and editing and writing skills (experience with Chicago Manual of Style a plus)
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to foster collaboration, and value others’ perspectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products and Adobe, knowledge of Confluence is a plus   
  • Ability to identify process and training gaps and proactively drive solutions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
