What you will be Doing as Data Scientist?

The Data Scientist will support the building of AI products on cloud platforms in an Agile fashion that empowers healthcare payers, providers, and members to quickly process medical data to make informed decisions and overall reduce healthcare costs. As a Data Scientist, you will be working primarily on end-to-end solutions to Business problems incorporating Statistical and Machine learning models to Deploy and maintain scalable and highly available Machine learning products on the cloud using software engineering best practices. These applications include but are not limited to recommendation systems, Fraud Waste and Abuse platforms, Decision support systems, and Data Visualization for the Data science command center. The data science and AI products you build will be used dually for real-time operational processes with both automated and human-based decision making as well as contribute to reducing healthcare administrative costs. We work with all major cloud and big data vendor offerings including but not limited to (Azure, AWS, Google, IBM, etc.) to achieve AI goals in healthcare and support Evolent business. The Data Scientist will also engage with the Engineering team, Cloud infrastructure team, and an information security team to meet the objectives of Data Science and AI products. The Data Scientist will support, guide, and mentor team members per the project's needs.

Your Day-to-Day Roles and Responsibilities as a Data Scientist?

  • Take part in the Research and Development of new products for Business using advanced statistical, data science, Machine learning, and AI techniques
  • Improve production data science model performance, choose the right cloud solutions, technology, and Architecture for low-cost deployment on the cloud without comprising on results     
  • Maintenance of existing machine learning, data science, and AI products and providing production support
  • Have a cloud-first approach to solution AI / Machine learning products
  • Work with immediate managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver efficient models, visualization, research outcomes, and products
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with peers, managers, and stakeholders on delivery, issues, and expectations
  • Writing efficient code, providing production support, using automated testing, using the continuous build, and deploying tools for 24x7 business support 
  • Build Operational Dashboards for monitoring model performance and KPIs in production
  • Support documentation of work and products using tools like but not limited to confluence, PowerPoint, word, JIRA, Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.
  • The Data scientist will have the opportunity to shape team culture and operating norms because of the fast-paced nature of a new, high-growth organization.

Preferred Experience We Look For

  • Overall 1+ years of Industry experience as a Data Scientist and/or Machine learning Engineer beyond the academic experience
  • Overall 1+ years of experience Designing solutions on Azure or AWS or Google Cloud for Machine learning and AI needs in an industrial setting Beyond academic work
  • Must have 1+ years of analytics needs in an operational setting   
  • Candidate should have strong experience with SQL and/or NoSQL Databases
  • Software programming experience in One or more programming languages such as Python, Scala, and Java to write production-level code.
  • 1+ years of Experience building APIs and a solid background in microservices

Technical Requirements:

Currently, Evolent employees work remotely temporarily due to COVID-19. As such, we require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.

Compensation Range: The minimum salary for this position is $90000, plus benefits. Salaries are determined by the skill set required for the position and commensurate with experience and may vary above and below the stated amounts.
